You can insure your au pair with AU-PAIR24 under the following conditions:
- Your au pair is not older than 29 years of age.
- Your au pair is staying temporarily within the area of validity.
The area of validity is the territory of the European Union (EU) as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, and Vatican City. Worldwide insurance coverage is provided for a verifiable maximum stay of six weeks.
After signing the contract, you will receive the following documents:
- an insurance confirmation as proof of insurance for use with government agencies and authorities,
- an insurance card for your au pair,
- a medical info card (Ärzte-Info-Ticket, in German) for direct billing with the doctor.
The insurance policy begins on the day the au pair enters Germany. In the case of a rematch, coverage begins on the day the au pair changes host families. Insurance coverage starts on the same date.
If the insurance is taken out after entry into Germany or after a change of host family, the policy is backdated to the day of entry or the host family change. However, insurance coverage begins at 12:00 a.m. (midnight) on the day after the application is received by our office.
If entry into Germany takes place via a direct route, insurance coverage also applies in all countries traveled through en route to the area of coverage. This additional coverage applies to all outbound journeys lasting no more than two days.
The insurance policy automatically ends on the agreed end date.
If the au pair leaves your family earlier than expected, we will calculate the premium on a daily basis from the date of receipt of the notice of termination. No administrative fees apply for refunds.
However, if the au pair returns earlier than planned or changes the host family, the insurance may be terminated as of the date the cancellation notice is received. For a retroactive refund of the premiums, we require appropriate proof:
- proof of departure from Germany
- membership certificate of a statutory health insurance
You can cancel the insurance should the entry to Germany not be possible. Once the insurance has started, we require appropriate proof — in this case, a copy of the visa refusal letter.
Only the policyholder may request changes of contract data.
You can easily submit your cancellation request using our online form.
If the return journey takes place during the insurance period and via a direct route, insurance coverage also applies in the countries traveled through on the return trip to the au pair’s home country. This additional coverage applies to all return journeys lasting no more than two days.
